Dr. Akshay Thusu grew up in San Antonio after moving from India when he was 15 years old. He graduated magna cum laude from University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in Chemistry with highest honors in Honors College. In 2015, he graduated from UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry with Distinction in Dental Education. He has been awarded a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) and Fellowship in the International College of Dentists (FICD).

Dr. Thusu tries to provide the best comprehensive care to his patients by keeping up to date with the latest techniques and materials in dentistry. He attends more than 120 hours of continuing education ever year in order to stay at the forefront of his field. He is certified in oral sedation to help ease patient’s anxiety during treatment. He loves to give back to the community. He has been providing free dental care at events such as Texas Mission of Mercy, Smiles for Hope Clinic, Dentistry from the Heart and San Fernando Health Fair in San Antonio, Austin, and Kerrville since his undergraduate years.
He shares his love for dentistry as a mentor to dental and pre-dental students and has also spoken at the dental school and TAGD’s New Dentist Conference. He is a delegate representing Texas in the Academy of General Dentistry International House of Delegates and represents San Antonio in the Texas Dental Association House of Delegates. He graduated from the American Dental Association’s prestigious Institute for Diversity in Leadership in 2019.
